Global Girl Conference

ECS students attended the annual Global Girl conference 2023 at Mulberry school which aimed to encourage students to remember together the contributions of women and young girls around the world. It aimed to consider how best to create a just, peaceful, and harmonious world that encourages equality for women.

Students participated in learning activities which included negotiation skills, teamwork, risk-taking and campaigning for the needs and challenges girls face, while promoting girls’ empowerment and the fulfilment of their human rights.

The event featured trailblazers in a variety of sectors, with panels focusing on media representation and responding to humanitarian crises.

Testimony from Andreia Vasilean, Year 10;

“Myself and some other female students had the opportunity to attend the Global Girl Leading Conference at Mulberry School. This conference allowed us to discuss current issues within our society that can lead to discrimination and intolerance of women in the media, specifically Journalism. During the Conference, we were met with two powerful women-lead panels that focused on women in the workplace and girls’ right to an education across the globe. I had the opportunity to ask the panel questions based on what they discussed, and it was a hugely empowering and insightful experience. The panel shared personal stories, facts and crucial messages and it was broadcast to multiple countries and viewers who didn’t attend in person. We thoroughly enjoyed how young girls across the world were represented during this Conference, and it was a load of fun!”
