Nursery

Our team does not process applications for nursery places. Instead, each of our schools process parents requests.

Please contact our Family Information Service (FIS) and they will provide you with full information for children born from today until 1 September 2018.

Starting School (Children aged 3 and 4)

Starting school in 2022

If your child was born between 1 September 2017 and 31 August 2018 they may start school full time in September 2022.  This move is not an automatic process and you will need to apply for a place at the schools you would like your child to go to. You must apply for a place even if your child is already at the school's nursery or has a brother or sister at that school.

The admissions process will start on 1 November 2021. Do not apply for a school place until this date. School places are not offered based on who applies first.  If you apply now you put your chance of getting a place at your preferred school at risk if you do not follow the process in the 2022 e-booklet which will be published on 1 November 2021.

Please wait until November to apply for a school place, when full information about making your application will be available.

The online closing date is midnight on 15 January 2022.  Applications received after this date are late and your child is not likely to get a place at an oversubscribed school.

If you have already submitted your application but you want to make any changes to your application (like your school or the order of those preferences), please fill in the Change my school place application webform.

You must read the admissions e-booklet ‘Starting school full-time in 2022’ before you apply. This e-booklet sets out our terms and conditions that you agree to when you apply for a school place.

If you try to apply online and you cannot see your exact address in the list, or the schools you want to apply for are not listed, you must contact the School Admissions Team before 5pm on 14 January 2022 or your application will be late.

If you have any technical difficulties when making your application online, the 'Online admissions helpdesk’ is available Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 5.30pm. Call 020 8255 5555 and select option 1, then option 1 again.

If you still need help after calling the helpdesk, please email or phone us – our details are below.

Important note: Apologies, there is an error in the Starting Full-time 2022 booklet and Starting school full-time in 2022 – A quick guide.

Results were posted on the 19 April 2022. You must then reply by 30 April 2022 or your child will not have a school place.

Moving from infant to junior school in 2022

If your child attends an infant school and was born between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015, they will start their junior school in September 2022.

Linked Barking & Dagenham junior schools

If you want your child to attend their link Barking & Dagenham junior school, you do not need to fill in an application form, as we will do this for you (even if you live outside the borough).

If you would prefer your child to go to a different junior school you must apply online.

Junior schools outside the borough

For infant and junior schools outside the borough, please contact the school or relevant local authority about their admissions procedure.

If they confirm you need to apply through your home local authority (us) you will need to apply online.

Junior applications from children not in infant schools

If your child is at any other type of school and you would like to apply for a year 3 place at a Junior school (for September 2023 start) you will also have to apply online.
