Data Results & Performance

National schools performance tables: Eastbury Community School / National Comparison Tables

Our Progress 8 measure is +0.23

The Progress 8 measure is designed to encourage schools to offer a broad and balanced curriculum at KS4, and reward schools for the teaching of all their pupils. The measure is based on students’ progress measured across eight subjects: English; mathematics; three other English Baccalaureate (EBacc) subjects (sciences, computer science, geography, history and languages); and three further subjects, which can be from the range of EBacc subjects, or can be any other approved, high-value arts, academic, or vocational qualification.

The reporting of the results will be seen in four ways:

Progress 8– this summarises the total progress made by students based on their level of entry from Primary school compared with other students with the same prior attainment. If the school achieves a score of 0 it means that as an average the majority of students have made expected progress. An upper and lower confidence interval indicates the range of the progress score. If the score is above 0 then it would indicate that students have made better than expected progress. A school would not have met the floor target if it had achieved a Progress 8 score of minus 0.5 or below.

Attainment 8- showing pupils’ average achievement in the same suite of subjects as the Progress 8 measure.

English and mathematics– the percentage of pupils achieving a grade 4 and 5 or better in both English (either Language or Literature) and mathematics.

The English Baccalaureate– showing the percentage of pupils achieving 5 good grades across a range of academic subjects. (English; mathematics, sciences, geography or history and a modern foreign language). 14% of our cohort in 2019 followed this pathway.

At Eastbury significant numbers of students opt for high value creative or vocational pathways which prepare them well for apprenticeship.
