Year 3 Belfast
Hello Belfast, I am your new teacher Miss George. I am looking forward to getting to know you all more! My hobbies are reading, listening to music and going for nice, long walks. This year we will work together to show excellence, collaboration and success!
Autumn 1
Week 1
We had a lovely transition week into Year 3. Here are some of the wonderful self portraits we created.
We also visited our school library.
Week 2
In PE we are learning how to play netball. We learned how to do a chest pass with our new Coach Josh.
In music we are learning a new instrument called the PBuzz with our music teacher.
Week 3
In English, we are doing report writing. We learned the Talk for Writing text which also helped up learn the features of a report.

Week 4
Our big question this year in RE is How are symbols and sayings important in religion? We listened to the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector and learned that it taught people about humility and to not think your better than others. We used this parable to create our own role play.

Week 5
Meet the Super Science Squad!
This term we are learning about rocks. We found different rocks around our school and carefully observed them to see if they were metamorphic, sedimentary or igneous rocks.

Week 6
BLACK HISTORY MONTH
During our KS2 assembly, we celebrated the start of Black History Month by focusing on the popular Black British author- Malorie Blackman. We have read Many of her books such as Pig Heart Boy, Operation Gadgetman and Ellie and the Cat.
English
In English, we have been doing report writing. We wrote the introduction to our reports on a mythical creature. Here is some of our work.

Week 7
BLACK HISTORY MONTH
During story time, we read a book called Skin Like Mine by Latashia M. Perry. This is a rhyming book which celebrates diversity. We enjoyed listening to it and we also had a chance to talk about our own cultures.
PE
During our indoor PE lessons, we have been doing gymnastics. We have been learning all about symmetry and balancing. We worked in small groups to create a routine. Here are some of them.

Week 1
English
In English, we are doing story writing. Our stories are based on the collection of stories called More Naughty Little Sister Stories by Dorothy Edwards. Here we are practicing our Talk for Writing map!

Week 2
We are continuing to learn the PBuzz with Mr Way. We know how to play different notes such as a,c f and g. Have a listen to us playing Hot Cross Buns!

Parliament week 2023
For parliament week, we voted for what was a major issue in our local area: littering or road safety. We visited our school polling station to make our vote count!

REMEMBRANCE DAY
For Remembrance Day we created some poppy arts and craftwork. We also did a 2 minute silence.

Week 3
Happy Diwali!
To celebrate Diwali, we dressed up in our own clothes and acted out the different Diwali stories for Sikhs and Hindus.

We also got to visit our local Gurdwara to learn more about Sikhism!
At the end of our visit, we had something to eat and drink in the kitchen.
Week 4
World Children's Day
For World Children's Day, we learned about our rights.
Some children became mini teachers helping with handwriting.
Other children read stories to us at story time.
